"In my childhood, I couldn't participate in a dance class,
cause I was not skinny. Music class was too expensive for my family.
I felt excluded from the girls' circle. Instead, I went for woodcraft and English.
The other way to enter gender normality was a painting class.
On the first day, I managed to steal the teacher's painting
and brought it home as my own.
No wonder, at the age of 25
I left my career on Russian television
to become a performance artist abroad".

Olga Prokhorova is a performance artist, based in Finland. She works in the art field since 2007 and has been performing internationally (in Sweden, Norway, Russia, Estonia, and Mexico).

In performance art, Olga explores between ritual, movement, behavior, and visual expressions. Her work focuses on the mythological nature of human self-realization.
Olga uses narrative and non-narrative thinking as a tool to research our common need
to accept and be accepted.

Entering, being, staying, and leaving - Olga gives her full attention to composing the structures and finding the freedom to re-compose. Standing out, the constant search for own air, and daring to breathe it - those are the common subjects of Olga's works.

Olga expresses meanings by creating phenomena to be observed and shared.
The main interest follows the body as a holder of traumas and stories of our life.
The body is a medium between possibility and realization, living and dead.

Olga's presence in the artwork is usually strong and responsive.
