OLGA PROKHOROVA

"It's our birthright to unpredicted faith and unpredictable behavior"
Hello! I am Olga. I do performance art for about 15 years, since 2007.

I am inspired by the minimalistic tradition of Scandinavian performers, which I spice up with reflections on my personal life journey and multicultural background.

My ideas are expressed through material and movement, establishing communication with the environment and audience.

Due to my love of telling stories, I research in the field of narrative and non-narrative, flow creativity and ready patterns, what we have inherited and what we might invent.

My work is loaded with humor, poetry, and determination.

MY INSPIRATION
"Performance art is a personal work on energies, which are channeled. The energies stick and are experienced. They seem to mean something.
In performance art everything is on display and shared, nothing is explained.
The source code for performance art is open."
Physical poetry
Roi Vaara
Marilyn Arsem
John Court
"Performance art is not representing, not recounting,
not re-enacting, but simply doing.
It is live and it's real. It is direct action.
It is not about rehearsing a text, or recreating a narrative, but rather it is an experimenting with a portion of one's life. It is not about entertainment, but about
desire to learn."
Act of doing
"What are we doing ? Why are we doing it ? What does it mean ? and Why do we care ? For me the most important thing is not to answer the question but to ask the questions. These questions have always been with me from the beginning.
I hope I have questioned in all my art works my passions, fears, hate and love for the practice. For me this is the most important thing that the artwork speaks for itself."
